Locking down a venue
#1
I think it would be cool to discuss the art of locking down a venue, and share success stories. Being cool with the bouncers and staff, getting free drinks, social proof, all the perks it comes with. I recently moved to an area with a lot of nice bars and restaurants and I'd like to start showing face in some of these places regularly, and efficiently so i'm not spending all my time there.

I've watched my father do this for years. He's a big guy and will generally just pick a spot at the bar and people tend to gravitate toward him. When he walks into a restaurant he likes he spends the first 5 minutes seeking out upper-staff and shaking hands with all of them. I'd be interested to hear how some of you guys approach this, especially the wiser gents.
