Same!

All those random scrotums banging against her perineum, and she thinks that's something appropriate to tell you about.

It's a strange topic, really, because frequently I try NOT to get into those kinds of discussions with chicks, but any conversation could end up going in that direction, and if she is not LTR material, then maybe a guy might just end up talking about those kinds of relationship matters with a chick just for fun or out of curiosity (but yeah, does a guy really need to know?).  If she is in the "regular bangs" circuit, then it can be good for the guy to know if he might end up in some kind of potential conflict situation.

I have had to lecture a few girls about their drama inclinations, and I tell them that part of our deal, when we hang out in public is that I don't want them putting me in any kind of unnecessary drama situation or where I might have to fight with a guy - whether I think that I can take the guy or not.  It's actually not a conversation that I bring up on my own, but instead such topics usually come up based on some kind of interaction that I have had with a girl and sometimes involving another guy, too.  Like she is talking with a guy or something like that, and then I might want to know who the guy is if she does not explain their relationship to me.  Sometimes, I will look back at the interaction and figure out that I am NOT really sure how my girl knows that other guy and sometimes it can lead to awkward interactions if I have to go up to her while she is talking with the guy.. or maybe the guy is seeming to pursue her in front of me (and he might not know that she is with me).

Of course, a guy should need to know less about her interactions with other guys if you don't plan to see her or take her into public, but I surely prefer to avoid as much drama interactions as I can, and frequently girls have differing ideas about the level of drama that they are willing to tolerate and sometimes they seem to find drama as a kind of game (or maybe even a shit test).

Best way to not give a shit? Realise that at some point in the future, everything you have ever done in your life will be forgotten. Slightly depressing but when I realised this I stopped giving a shit and it felt grat.

I found it slightly strange that she brought it up, but also kind of interesting. It was a slight turn off I guess.

I find your explanation totally plausible in regards to our interactions with chicks sometimes going in all kinds of unexpected directions, and frequently, we just need to be able to go with the flow them, and decide on the fly whether we are going to "go" to the place where they are trying to take us or how far we are going to let some matter that she is bringing up go before we attempt to shut it down.

I know some guys will say that a chick needs to be like this or that or some other thing, and even chicks are going through times that are way out of their ability to adapt, and surely I prefer to hang out with chicks or even bang chicks who I largely find to be interesting characters, even if I might NOT consider them to be long term relationship materials.   Even when I have opportunities to bang chicks on the first date, I don't tend to do it, most of the time, but yeah, if you are traveling, there will be those kinds of restraints that cause guys to want to get the bang much more quickly and end up with chicks who might be a bit on the "strange" side.

So, yeah, I understand that if a guy is rotating through a lot of girls, sometimes the girls can really become a real pain in the ass in terms of the kinds of things they do or the level of their trustworthiness, because there has not been enough time to really figure out how much you can trust them or just whether you can leave them in your room by themselves, or leave them with valuables or if you have to hide everything from them.

I also don't tend to friend chicks on facebook, even if I am banging them for a long time, but the chick still might have my image, and she could say that this is one of the guys that she had been banging.. .  I have frequently thought about creating a burner facebook account for traveling, but I wonder if that is even practical with all of the joining of face recognition software, these days.

That makes sense too, and yeah, both of you may have recognized that you were not really going down any kind of potential long term relationship path, which might have caused her to be a lot more open with you about her prior relationships and just to see how you might react to that information.. like she was trying to get your approval or her curiosity in regard to your reaction.

Regarding my  experience with Vietnamese girls, I have had quite a few quasi-long term relationships with Vietnamese girls who are in the USA and who had grown up in vietnam, and in early 2015, I did go on about a three week trip to Vietnam with one of my vietnamese girlfriends, and I was trying to gauge what it would be like to try to pick up chicks in vietnam while I was with my then girlfriend.  Just for fun, I tried some practice approaches with some local girls when my girl was out shopping or something like that, but it is so difficult to appreciate the short term weirdness that could happen with a girl that you may have just met for the bang and with some decent logistics, and aren't guys having more difficulties staying longer in vietnam if they are on a tourist visa, or or guys getting work visas in order to make it easier to stay in vietnam for longer periods of time?

I'm staying here longer term (at least 6 months) to teach English. I am assuming my school will sort out the work permit for me as visa runs would be a pain in the ass. Enjoying playing the field so far. Might get a girlfriend eventually but I am in no rush to do so. Tricky to find a girl with all the right characteristics (hot, good english, non strict parents, good banter etc). Meeting a cute new girl tonight who seems to have very good english, but sometimes their written english is a lot better than their spoken english. Will see later.

Went on a tinder date last night with a super Westernized Viet girl aged 30. Grew up in the states from aged 13-25 and spent the last 4 years in Shanghai. Comes from a loaded family.

Quite textbook. She is 100% school and career focused. Jaded about relationships. Has daddy issies. Doesn't want kids. Admitted to cheating on past partners and being a shitty GF.

Underneath the veal, she did have a nice side to her, but still in no way marriage material. Anyways, met her for coffee and a gay friend of her messages her to come to the Observatory.

Surprisingly I have never been to the Observatory so I was keen to check it out.

Has a 150k cover with no drink. Walk in and there is a big bar with seating around on a roof top type setting. Tons and tons of foreigners. Had to be atleast 90% foreigners here. Seems like a good place to go if you want to pick up a western girl. A bit too many gay dudes for my liking. The dance floor area is inside and it is damn near completely dark. Great place to bring a girl and have a naughty time. The music played was euro/asian stuff but almost coundn't hear it outside and inside wasn't too loud. I will def be back here. Has some potential.

How did you introduce all these probing questions to her?
Or was she just chill in sharing with you with no thought at all?

I've come across more than a handful of girls who are dim and chatty and find it therapeutic to reveal their brokenness.

If you give off a non judgmental air, the book often opens itself.

Viet women will tell foreign guys their dirtiest darkest secrets because theyre only worried about judgement from their family and local friends. No probing required.

My vietnamese teacher told me this outright. Was always going into DETAIL about her marriage woes. It made me feel uncomfortable in the least.

How is the paranoia on the corona in HCM? I know that schools are closed..
In Mui Ne most ppl wear masks (that don't help a crap), but apart life is (still fairly normal).

Paranoia was pretty high when I left.

Schools closed
Visas suspended
Borders closed
Etc

Looking like schools might stay closed until September.

So far my company has been doing online classes.

But if they suspend that, I might go monk mode in Dalat or something until the storm passes.

Is the pay difference, between someone with a degree vs someone w/o that big? I'm about a bit more than a semester and 5k usd away from a B.A. already have an A.A. was wondering if it's worth it to get my degree before going out there to teach. Of course, after all this Corona virus stuff blows over. Thanks

Re: pay difference, it's more that you are ducking and diving, relying on the locals to cover for you and pay you cash, no bank account. They are exploitative bosses unless they know that their mistreatment of you will drive you into a new employers arms. But if you have no degree then they can exploit you more freely and, even if you can keep on top of getting new business, its a more fraught lifestyle.

Big foreigner crackdowns coming so without a BA you are meat and drink for the authorities.

Plenty of foreigners with BAs ready to do the visa run / live in a small room on top of the school lifestyle when all this blows over.

As for HCMC? Was there two weeks ago.

Fair amount of abuse on account of being in their country whilst white..

My friends in the provinces are doing okay. Lone white man with day to day friendships with locals, everybody knows he is not a recent arrival.

My friends in HCM are reporting problems. Their work visas suspended (and they dont work in schools) because foreigner, their tenancies declared illegal "because foreigner', and day to day Viet acquaintances suddenly turning on them, hostile and refusing service.

I think it depends where you go. When I lived there I would complain to tourists about what sh*ts people were being..
"No! No! they have such kind hearts! they are so friendly! such beautiful people!" etc. etc.
Well, they just charged you double for your food and kicked your backpack on the way back to the kitchen but hey..
Tourist central might be okay..

I have a Thai Lady friend who is in Dong Nai province and she gets daily Viet updates about Western tourists that test positive. Case 56 is.. Case 121 is.. and then it goes into the detail that "they.. went there and then DESPITE being told xxxx they STILL did Y and THEN they went on to.. and THEN they.. "

Its outrage porn for the masses and if a tourist can avoid the propaganda and the hostility then good. But it wont be for lack of effort on behalf of the authorities. Theyve gone all in on scapegoating whitey.

BECAUSE the new wave of infections came from a politicians daughter who was swanning around Europe, knew she was a risk, and lied about her travels before bringing the disease home.
Now what is the child of a high-up communist party official doing... with a dual UK passport and swanning around high end fashion shows in Italy as a lifestyle?

Need to distract from that.
Cue the scape goating of foreigners..

China has pushed the 'we are victims' of "anti-chinese" racism by the West angle, all the while that they are amping up the anti-foreigner propaganda.
Now Viet Thai and Chinese acquaintances are telling me that "the West has declared war on Asia!" .. all the while that theirs are the only governments who have gone all out stoking anti-foreigner propaganda in order to scapegoat someone.

Its always been there, the animus toward outsiders, but in this situation these governments are trying to push it to the fore.

In the case of the Thais and the Viets the Western powers that be will smile indulgently and try to ensure that their investments and profits remain protected.
In the case of China the Western powers-that-be will continue to boot lick and worship their CCP bosses.

Funny how all the Viet indignation at the CCPs bullying of their country went away once this was turned into.. "Asia vs the West".

If you only have a semester left, for sure finish. Will open up a lot more doors for you abroad with regards to teaching.

There probably is some underlying butthurt about unqualified english teachers coming to VN making 4x a uni educated local whilst pumping and dumping the locals girls. What nationality of men would that sit well with?

That said, the xenophobia here isnt as bad as youre making it out to be. It's primarily a Facebook phenomena. I havent dealt with much of any of it on the streets. Stares are a tad longer than they used to be perhaps. A few places told me I had to wear a mask before coming in. Not all that really.

But it is funny how quickly viets forgot this is a Chinese originated virus that started because they were eating all sorts of unclean animals many of which they also eat here. And this is the 2nd time it's happened, corona being SARS 2.0 essentially. Yet somehow foreigners refusing to wear masks proven to be ineffective is the problem.

It is getting pretty boring here though. My gym closed a couple days ago. And even in the parks they've got the exercise equipment taped off.

Cafes and restaurants with 30+ seats all shut.

The one good thing right now is tinder. Had some of my best matches in 1.5 years. But alot of them are reluctant to meet up because of this virus. (Naturally as a foreigner I'm infected lol.)
And aside from a netflix and chill, they're aint a lot of places to go on a date.

I might fuck off to Vung Tau or one of the towns nearby. At least I'd have a beach.

Any jobs available besides English teaching in Vietnam?

For example "The industries foreigners are usually recruited for are in the IT, supermarkets, insurance, business, call centers, and health sectors.". ?
